End Effector assembly-line diagnostic tool, product render

Catch it before it leaves the line.

ARCX

End Effector is a handheld diagnostic tool designed to be used on a Tier 1 automotive assembly line and in production since February 2026. A technician touches the tip to a connector on the vehicle roughly once every 45 seconds, checking connectivity and test functionality without damaging the pins: a single damaged pin can shut down the whole line, so protecting the connection matters as much as the check itself. A status light at the tip gives a simple go/no-go read, so the result is clear without looking away to a separate screen, and a coiled cable keeps the tool tethered to the station's controller within easy reach.

The body is 3D printed in a carbon-fibre-filled PETG, chosen for a rigid, durable grip with no sharp corners anywhere on the housing so it holds up if it's dropped on the line. Because it's meant to be handled by technicians from a wide range of backgrounds, it had to work without any explanation, foolproof and intuitive by design. The hardest problem was making one tool fit multiple connector styles used across a single vehicle platform: getting the tip geometry right took many rounds of prototyping and iteration in close collaboration with the client's engineers, refining the shape through as many mock-ups as it took before it went into production.
